Unveiling a Unusual Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces on a Quest to Arrive at the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have discovered plenty of engaging indie games. However, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Called Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure includes a hero that is actually a dung trying to navigate to a commode. In case you're wondering, "Unko" translates to "poop."
The gameplay is straightforward: press a single jump button. In numerous stages, encounter mini-bosses and visit a market to buy customizations for your dung hero.
Time your actions with caution, as a mistake forces beginning again. Leap using air pockets to hurl your character upward, traverse crumbling surfaces, and touch buttons to reveal secret routes. Gather coins to purchase more difficult stages in which things intensifies.
Visually, the game features eye-catching environments and a killer soundtrack. The retro art with moving basic polygons evokes memories of gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.
Although tough to name previous releases where you play as a coiled turd, gaming often incorporated scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, players craft throwables from protagonist droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as soil enrichment. And of course, fecal references is present extensively in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Putting aside its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already earned notable awards, like being named best at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is available now on Steam, with the complete version set to debut on computers this November.
